Scarcelli named first-team
All-Canadian
QUEBEC CITY, Que. - Canadian Interuniversity Sport announced its
individual award winners on Thursday night at the Quebec City
Convention Centre, naming University of Regina fifth-year kicker
Perri Scarcelli a first-team All-Canadian.
Scarcelli had a spectacular 2009 campaign for the Rams, becoming
only the second player in Canada West history to kick at least
20 field goals in a single season. Scarcelli was successful on
20 of his 23 field goal attempts, giving him a team-record 87.0%
completion rate for the season.
“Perri was outstanding for us all season long,” Rams head coach
Frank McCrystal said. “He was a factor for us every time we
played and came through for us time and time again over his five
seasons with us.”
Scarcelli ends his five-year career with the Rams as the
program’s all-time leader in extra points (104), extra point
completion rate (98.1%), field goals made (56), field goal
percentage (64.4%), and punts (334). His 53-yard field goal
against Simon Fraser on Sept. 27, 2008 stands as the longest in
U of R history.
Scarcelli becomes the ninth University of Regina football player
to be named a first-team All-Canadian.
